I made macaroons, oh yes I did! I didn't have any almonds cos I don't really like them as much as other nuts (macadamias and cashews, noooom) but I used chocolate buttons and they are so good. I now fully understand how the Famous Five could consume them with lashings of ginger ale (which I don't have, but I do have L&P.) I'll bring them tomorrow night, ladies, since my plan to make potato salad fell through when I didn't remember to get any dressing. The recipe said 30-40 biscuits, but I got about 20, so maybe they made little tiny ones? But it says in the recipe to use a dessert spoon full! How am I supposed to know they mean a tiny dessert spoon?

You know why macadamias are so expensive? Cos they're difficult to crack. Literally! It's harder to get them out of their shells, so they cost more because there's more effort involved. Genius!

Okay, I have been putting off finishing my final panel. I'm going to put on the Prince Caspian soundtrack and get cracking. I'd ideally like to finish it tonight cos holy crap I just remembered that other deadline that I haven't reached yet, but I refuse to lose momentum, no sir!

My bracelet broke today, woe! I feel all naked without it. I'll have to weave the beads into a dreamcatcher, that way the sentimentality lives on.

For the first time in a long time, I'm actually working on a proper project. I have my art desk that sits all nicely in the afternoon sun, and I have the dresser I'm redecorating, and I'm actually drawing the art to go on the front of it. I'm so pleased with myself ^_^ I'll post pics of my new flat sometime soon I think, soon as I get some posters on my walls.

Also: *DANCES* I'm going to Aucklaaaaaand in Maaaaarch and I'm going to be at Vector Arena on March 11 to see my first favouritest band in the world and I feel like a giggly child, I'm so excited!!! SQUEEEEEE!!!

AND, going to the coast next weekend is going to be epicly AWESOME and I can't wait for that either!

I love not living shut up in my room all the time~ and I got out of the old flat just in time, cos my ex-flatmates are now ex-partners too, and leaving that place in their separate ways. Dun dun duuuuun.

Except I'm misplaced my headphones and I have to use the back-ups, and they're not as good =/

The fix on the network that JD kindly pointed my way that makes LJ work makes Facebook not work, so I have to play skipping games between DNS servers. Woo!

Soooooo new flat is go! Woo! But the new internet doesn't really seem to like LJ at all... which is annoying, but I guess I'll learn to live with it... it won't show any icons or anything =/ Weird. But we've been here a week now and it's wicked cool ^_^ so much happier here! And I have tomorrow off cos its Waitangi Day, and I have Plans for my day, oh yes, I am going to have a productive day! Is anyone around in the evening? Cos if Somebody was at a loose end, they could totally share the snickerdoodles I'm going to bake BRIBE BRIBE (and I still feel stupid calling them that, but it's an American recipe, so what can you do.)

I hope we can get a kitten! I want one so muuuuch >.< I keep thinking I see one but I don't!

Sooooooooooo I have a new flat to live in XD Woohooooo! I've taken most of my posters down already, my walls are all nekkid. Lucy's sleeping on my bed, naww. I'll miss her. She's the only part of this place I'll miss. Hooray for living near the orbiter route! Hooray for a sunny new room! Hooray for flatmates I like! Hooray for getting to set up a new house with all the fun bits! Boo for packing!

Yay! Flatting plans are moving ahead at a pleasant rate ^_^

Question: does anyone have good advice on what kind of router is a good one to pick up for cheap? I don't really want to buy a new one off whoever our future provider will be, but one routeron Trademe looks the same as another to me. It has to connect two computers to the network, at least one being this iMac what I am using now. Something like this one or this one? I'll have to find out if her computer is wireless capable; I know mine is.

So the place with the pool is a no-go SADFACE but never mind. No pool for me! Never mind, this means I can actually look for a place I can be in charge of. I might have found a random chick to find a place with since I can't find any interesting rooms. Might need a third person tho. I'm looking forward to be living with girls who don't leave beard scum all over the bath. I can put up with girl mess.

I saw Whip It last night. I defy any girl who goes to see it to not want to immediately go and join the nearest roller derby, cos srsly, that looks fun. Violent, and fun. And the movie had Zoe Bell in it too, and we all know she's hardcore awesome.

Day of forgetting things

Good start for the first day of the year where I actually left the house. Not.

I left the house minus keys, wallet, jacket, any money on my bus card, and had almost no money on my cellphone. Good job, me! It was fine and hot all day, so I didn't really need my jacket, but as Jen predicted it did cool down in the afternoon so I'm glad it stayed warm. I ran out of money on my phone, but luckily, I discovered that I can remember all the numbers on my credit card, including expiry and security number on the back. This just goes to show that I use it online a little too much. I borrowed $10 from work and left an IOU, so I hope Boss doesn't mind. And I only had to sit outside for half an hour before my flatmates got home, and I spent the time playing with Lucy; and watching in morbid fascination as a wasp took down a fly and, after a heroic effort to kill it, chewed the thing open. I didn't stop to see what it did next cos the keys arrived, but there are probably some disembodied wings lying about somewhere.

Also, I stole a magazine out of the mailbox. But whatever, last time that magazine turned up, it sat around for weeks and got ruined because there is no design company in flat 2 in existence to accept it. This time, I'm saving everyone the bother and stealing it for myself. Don't want to let a perfectly good Prodesign mag go to waste.

The date is 01-01-10 which is very visually appealing. Twenty-ten has a good sounding, positive ring to it, don't you think?

Start off with a fresh, clean slate, a more positive mental attitude, and a bit of artwork for that merlin gift exchange.

I included the original drawing because I like it. I can't think of much to say about this, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I have to do less work in Photoshop and more practice with actual paints.

I had a weird dream the other night that Thunderbirds was getting a sequel with more girls shoehorned into the family, and it was an anime and they had to fight giant robots that looked like various superheroes and were lead by Hawk Girl.

Oh, subconscious, I do not understand this message.

I want to mooooove. It's got to the point where everything they do pisses me off. Even sitting watching a movie. On my TV. That I never use, because they're always in the lounge.

I am just so AAAHHH!! right now for no reason.

Well, there is a reason, many reasons: I had a mocha too late at night, and too much chocolate, and delicious delicious japanese food at Yamagen and my mum got married and my dress was so pretty and I got a haircut and silver nail polish and I saw working pics of Dawn Treader (WANTNOWOMG)

And I have plans in my head, gorgeous plans that get in the way of proper work I said I'd do, but I'll do that too, tomorrow when I have access to a scanner.

Also I found a pic of Jack Sparrow making out with Ariel. Weird? I think yes. But in a good way.

We know how to have a good time.

I need to sleep because I said I'd be back at Mum's around 1pm, but there's so much I'd rather be doing. Babysitting is fuuuuun.

I'm going to be doing an art dump pretty soon I think, there's old stuff I want to share. All Narnia related of course. Is there a Narnia fanart comm on LJ someplace? I'm sure there is, I just can't be bothered looking.

Today was fine. I felt my mood plummet in the afternoon. It's a most weird sensation. I was fine all morning, but then the afternoon... No no no. I went for a longer run because of it, and it made me feel better, because in the immortal words of Elle Woods: "Exercise creates endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands!"

So, so true.

I love this time of year =D it's getting hot, it's 2 months til New Year, it's getting busier... Just yay!

I've mainlined the second half of Freaks and Geeks- it's such a great show. I was watching it thinking, wow, those guys seem to have hardly aged at all since 1980 when this was filmed, it's amazing. Except John Frances Daley of course, he's gotten taaaaaall! But of course it wasn't filmed in the early 80s, it was filmed in the 90s. Genius!

OMG, www.joyofbaking.com SO MUCH NOM!!! I was looking for a pumpkin pie recipe because I love pie and I love pumpkin and it's not a food that comes automatically at the end of November like it does in USA so I don't think I've ever tried it but I do love pumpkin scones BREATHE and I found this website with SO MUCH DELICIOUSNESS I want to try it all! I want this Christmas to have delicious baking =D Cos srsly, the photos are so appetising, I just want to eat the pictures out of the screen.

Also, Merlin is love. It's so much fun ^_^ Must acquire the season 1 DVD at some stage. Maybe I can put that on my Christmas list! Damn, it's the time of year where I have to stop buying things for myself again. Never mind. I'm supposed to be saving money so I can move out in Jan anyway.

Okay, this is a picspam I promised for Jen, because BSB have just released their SEVENTH album, and I still love them as much as I always have.

You know, the Backstreet Boys weren't always this hip, cool, edgy band they are today. Once upon a time, they had 90s haircuts, and awesome fashion, and an extra member in the band. Lets see how they started out...

YES, they are ADORABLE. This is taken even before I loved them, Nick's about 12, it's crazy.

This is them as I first knew them. GUH.

Sometimes they were corny.

Sometimes they had puppies.

Sometimes Kevin looked like Fabio.

But through it all they were just a bunch of crazy, pop-singing, fun-loving dudes

who rode around in cars

and stood around singing in the rain.

They've been goofy

and they love to jump.

Rocking was never cooler.

I promised myself I'd be in bed by 3am today, and I have 18 minutes to meet that deadline.

I've been feeling productive this evening. I sewed the hair onto the doll I'm making for Missy's Christmas present and it looks ADORABLE. I will post photos when she has a proper outfit to wear. Can't have nudey dolly pictures on my journal!

Also, got bitten by a cross-over bunny, and who am I to deny myself more practice with a tablet? I might work on it a bit more, so here it is in the mean time. Also I did this in about 40 minutes. Enjoy!

OMG I was walking home from work and I saw a little huddle of ducklings on the grass by the river and OMG SO CUUUUUTE!! They were all bunched up in a circle and their mummy was standing guard next to them and I wanted to take a photo except NO, I left my camera at Mum's last weekend by accident, and my phone camera is shit.

I was a bit confused for a second there, but OH RIGHT. Daylight Savings begins again! This means I get an hour less sleep tonight *sob* see, if I went to sleep before 2am, this sort of thing wouldn't happen. BUT! When I wake up, there will be BRUNCH! \o/
